STUDENTS from a prep school raised more than £1,100 for charity with a year's worth of action-packed fundraisers.

Since September a team of seven year eight students at Holmwood House School, in Chitts Hill, rallied support from peers and parents, organising a number of events in aid of Colchester and Ipswich Hospitals Charity.

Events included a water bucket challenge, a homemade milkshake stall and face painting at the annual fete, helping the youngsters raise a total of £1,196.17.

Last week, students visited the charity to deliver a cheque and learn about how their money would help the community.

Rachel Godman, head of enrichment at Holmwood House, said: "It is brilliant to see our oldest pupils having so much fun whilst raising a significant amount of money for charity. We are very proud of their achievements."

Caroline Bates, head of fundraising at Colchester Hospital, added: "The pupils in Water house have been fundraising for the Cancer Centre Campaign for five years and for our neonatal department before that.

"We always enjoy their visits to the hospital and congratulate them of their successful fundraising which is greatly appreciated."
