A BRAZEN crook ran across a carriageway in broad daylight after stealing expensive roadworks equipment in Great Bromley.
Police are appealing for information after more than ten thousand pounds worth of surveying equipment was stolen from a construction site where a roundabout is being built, in Harwich Road.
It was reported a man stopped on the Colchester-bound side of the A120 at around 1.15pm, on Thursday 20 June, before running across the carriageway and taking the equipment.
It was then reported he got back into his car, described as a silver Renault Megane, and drove off towards Colchester.
The expensive equipment is soon rendered inoperable once reported stolen.
The man has been described as white, of stocky build, 6ft tall, and wearing a t-shirt.
An Essex Police spokesman said: "If you saw anything, have dash cam footage or have any other information please call us on 101 quoting the crime reference number 42/97240/19 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
