A FILM club is preparing for its 15th season in autumn.

Following a “great season” which saw 19 films screened at the town hall in Market Hill, Maldon Film Club is already preparing for another year of classics.

Starting in September, the community is welcome to come and enjoy a range of the best English and foreign language movies that have been released.

John Salisbury, organiser of the film club, said: “Preparations are in hand for our 15th season which commences on Tuesday, September 10.

“Next year’s programme promises to be the best yet.

“In addition to blockbusters such as Green Book, Stan and Ollie, Can You Ever Forgive Me and If Beale Street Could Talk, and the much loved A Taste of Honey, next year’s selection will include a number of award-winning foreign language films including Cold War and Shoplifters.”

The film club is put together by a committee who ensure every time the big screen is put up, a great film is shown.

The committee is still compiling its programme for the 2019 to 2020 season but Mr Salisbury guarantees it will be as fun as ever.

He explained memberships wind up so affordable, you pay less than £1.50 per film.

He said: The club works on a membership basis and is run by a committee that selects and screens an annual programme of 18 films from the best of recent releases plus one classic or members’ favourite.

“The price of an annual subscription is just £25 which entitles members to free admission to all of the season’s 19 films, that’s less than £1.32 per film.”
