A scheme to help people with mental and physical disabilities using Croquet has been launched in Maldon.

The new project, Croquet in the Community is expected to launch in the coming weeks, with Maldon Croquet Club as its leading light.

The club based at Forrester Park Golf Club in Great Totham is planning to encourage more residents to play the game, with research proving it has great psychological and physical benefits to people of all ages.

Sue White, chairman of Maldon District Council’s community services committee, said: β€œIt is great to see the Maldon Croquet Club embracing the local community and opening its doors by offering an opportunity to enjoy an inclusive and exciting sport.

"We hope this inspires people from all over the District to try something new and be physically active.”

Maldon Croquet Club is also offering six week courses to people in the community to get a taste of the pastime.

Anyone interested in the course can contact Jean Healey on 07946351768.
