THE COMMUNITY is invited to have their say on how to tackle one of the country's most polluted roads.

Market Hill in Maldon was declared an air quality management area in December 2018.

Maldon District Council has since been working on its action plan to reduce the amount of nitrogen dioxide that is emitted on the road.

The council said the amount and type of traffic on Market Hill, teamed with the fact the road is set on the hill itself has led its significant rise in pollution.

It has now invited residents to take part in the drop in session on Tuesday June 18 at the council offices in Princes Road to discuss the issue.

Sue White, chairman of the council's community services committee, said: "As the action plan is put together, and options have been given serious consideration and scrutiny, there will be an opportunity for public consultation on the proposals themselves later in the year.

"However, at this stage it is about obtaining as many ideas and views as possible from local people and businesses.”

The session will take place from 3pm to 6pm.

Those who cannot attend the event are also welcome to email their suggestions to environmentservices.request@maldon.gov.uk.

The deadline for suggestions is the end of June.
