Not too much has changed following this year's local elections at Maldon District Council, however after last night's annual meeting, there is a new chairman.

Bob Boyce will take over from Henry Bass as the new chairman of the council, which Penny Channer will now sit as vice-chairman.

Meanwhile Adrian Fluker remains as leader with his deputy, Maddie Thompson also still firmly in place.

The new leader of the opposition will be Independent group leader, Mark Heard.

Following the meeting on May 16, Adrian Fluker, leader of Maldon District Council, said: “ I am delighted that following the District Council elections the Conservative Administration of Maldon District Council will continue for another four years.

"This will enable the Council to work for the benefit of residents and keep our Council Tax as low as possible."

The ‘Full Council Transformation’ programme which will deliver savings of £1.5m will be completed in the Autumn, maintaining frontline services.

Bob Boyce MBE, newly elected council chairman, said: “I am delighted to have been elected as chairman of the council and I very much look forward to continuing the excellent work of past chairmen in celebrating our community, our partners and our businesses.”
