A COLOURFUL mural was created by adults with learning difficulties to show their appreciation for a park.

Adult Community Learning Colchester, an education centre for adults with special educational needs, ran a 14-week art course.

The course culminated in a group designing a masterpiece for the Go4 Café at Old Heath Recreation Ground in Colchester.

It was organised by art tutors Michelle Burrows and Jo Murphy.

Michelle said: “The course focuses on developing confidence, inclusion within the community and self-esteem.

“We went to the park and had a walk around and took photos of elements of the park that stood out.

“The unifying aspect of the piece was recycled green bottle tops which looked like the fencing around the park.”

Enterprise directors at Go4 Pepi Sanchez and Piter Vera were thrilled with the result.

Pepi said: “It was a pleasure for Go4 social enterprises to work in partnership with ACL and its students who made this special masterpiece.

“It is proudly displayed on our wall at the recreation ground café.

“We want to thank Michelle Burrows and the students for giving us the opportunity to

be part of this amazing project.”

The students also created a piece of art which will be unveiled at the Birch Music Festival in July.

ACL is looking for businesses to work with them on the next art course which starts in September.

To get involved call ACL on 0345 603 7635.

The Go4 cafe team wanted to thank the community for being kind and supportive for the three years it has been running.

Pepi thanked Andrew Lane and Lenz Security for donating the security alarm for the cafe after three attempted break-ins and Laura Love for raising more than £1,000 to buy new cafe doors.
