Flo Shaughnessy has been confirmed as the newly elected Mayor of Maldon Town.
For the coming year, Mrs Shaughnessy, who was re-elected as district councillor for Maldon West paid thanks to her colleagues before accepting the responsibility.
A spokesman for Maldon Town Council said: "At last night's annual meeting, Flo Shaughnessy was elected as the Mayor of Maldon Town for the coming Civic Year.
"She thanked the outgoing Town Mayor, Jeanette Stilts, and her Consort, Peter, for all they have done for the town during the past year, and welcomed a new Deputy Town Mayor, Mark Heard, into office.
"The Town Mayor will be supported by her husband, Terry, as her Consort, for this municipal year."
