The largest event of Maldon's calendar year is set to return on May 12, and we want to hear from everyone taking on the Mud Race.

The event at Promenade Park sees around 20,000 people come from all over the world to watch the 300 entrants get down and dirty for a charity of their choosing.

Speaking ahead of this year's Maldon Mud Race, the chairman, Brian Farrington, said: “The day involves nearly 12 months of pre-planning and there are always a few surprises.

"As the event grows, we are expanding our offering to include our Duck Race, Fancy Dress Competition for competitors plus a wide range of stalls with snacks and promotional gifts.

"Last year saw nearly 20,000 people attend the event so we are hoping to raise even more money for the charities.

"Last year we distributed over £35,000 and we are looking for this to be the best year ever.”

We have heard from many in the district about their plans for this year's event and we would love to hear more.
