DRIVERS are being reminded part of Ipswich Road in Colchester will be closed next week.

Preparations are being made to close parts of Ipswich Road and Harwich Road as work progresses on changing the double roundabouts into single ones.

The partial closure is needed for the safety of the public and workforce while water and gas diversion works are carried out.

The northbound carriageway on Ipswich Road will be closed between Fenwick Drive and the Ipswich Road roundabout between Monday and March 11.

Highways workers have warned they may need to close this section of road completely if drivers do not adhere to the restrictions.

Both sides of Ipswich Road will be closed between Fenwick Drive and the Ipswich Road roundabout between March 11 and 15.

Both sides of Harwich Road will be closed from the junction of Greenstead Road to its junction with the Harwich Road roundabouts from April 1 to April 22.

The works will be carried out between 7am and 8pm.

This week BT is on site and connections are to be made to the existing utility main in Ipswich Road North and St Andrew’s Avenue.

Works for gas diversions are also taking place.
