A QUIZ night has been hailed a success after being held in aid of a gardening group.

Maldon in Bloom held the event at Plume Academy in order to raise money for various projects planned for this year.

Winners of the quiz were a team of supporters of the Steam Tug Brent Trust.

A spokesman from the trust said: “We were a mixed group of two people from the trust and four supporters.

“We were very pleased we made a good combination of people.

“Between us we had a varying knowledge base and it was a night of good fortune for us to receive such a high score.

“We will be holding our own quiz night at the town hall on February 22 which will include fish and chips.”

Maldon in Bloom said it was a very successful quiz evening with all sides of Maldon’s community coming along to support the team.

A spokesman for Maldon in Bloom said: “Thanks must be given to Mark and Vicky Heard, our quiz masters, Carl Wakefield of the Plume Academy, James of Maldon Car Accessory Centre and Sue Thomson and Jane Hudson for ticket sales, as well as staff at Our Plaice for dealing with our food orders.”

The team will now be concentrating on preparing more activities including a treasure hunt litter pick, activities for National Gardening Week, visits in the community and finalising the Anglia in Bloom route.
