A HISTORIC furniture brand is reinventing itself for the future with a striking new look inside and out.

Customers can continue shopping while work is done at Hatfields, in Stanway, over the coming year.

The new look is anticipated to be unveiled this summer which will include a do-over of Hatfields' corporate logo.

Managing director, Robert London, said: "Hatfields are undergoing an update or our corporate identity, whilst incorporating a fresh new look and modernisation of our store frontage.

"Always conscious of the past but mindful of the future, we want to ensure Hatfields has an image that will take us forward for years to come.

How the furniture store should look when it is done

"We're conscious the existing external image doesn't reflect the quality merchandise we offer within the building, which many in the ever growing Stanway, Colchester and surrounding areas may be unaware of.

"A considerable investment for a company of our size is being committed to this project.

"The illustrations show two-storey glass display windows, emphasising the fact we have two floors. It also details two-tone display cladding with aero foil, enhanced internal and external lighting, alongside new display signage and landscaping."

Changes to the front of the shop will have no bearing on Hatfields' business philosophy, Mr London explained, but is a way of appealing to all age groups and future customers.

Adapting is what will take Hatfields forward.

He said: "This redevelopment shows our long term commitment as a small independent retailer in the local area, which will hopefully give us the opportunity to serve the next generations of residents well into the future.

"The current trading year, like many in retail, has been challenging.

"However, Hatfields products and quality service are well known, which we feel are the backbone of our business and h has enabled us to trade for over 130 years.

"We're also developing an online trading platform that will provide our customers with another way of shopping with us."
