A DUTCH television show has been reporting from Harwich about Brexit and the possibility of a no deal.
News show Nieuwsuur has broadcast three reports on the subject from the town, speaking to the port, councillors, a Dutch lorry driver and visiting the Christmas lights switch-on event to interview to residents.
Harwich International Port manager Darren Taylor told the show companies need to prepare now for a no deal Brexit.
He said: "We took a decision earlier this year to invest in trailer stands, nearly €1million to provide 100 trailer bays to give us greater flexibility.
"At the moment there are about 50m entries a year to the customs system, that could increase five-fold up to 250m entries.
"We understand there are about 200,000 companies that trade between Europe and the UK who do not have experience of customs entries - for them it's going to be a big shock.
"They are going to have to make plans in a no-deal outcome."
Harwich councillor Ivan Henderson criticised the closing of the customs offices in Dovercourt, saying a new home would have to be found to house all the extra customs staff needed in a no-deal Brexit.
Rudy went to the Harwich Christmas Lights event in the high street on Friday night to ask the public their opinions.
One resident said: "I used to work in exports and imports, before Europe, we will just do the same as we did before - forms."
