An orchestra that raises cash for charities across the Maldon District has received an award.
The Maldon Orchestra, which has been a part of the town for more than 60 years was awarded the Team of Pride award at the Pride of Essex Awards.
The orchestra gives amateur musicians of all levels the opportunity to make music and perform before packed audiences, all for charities in Maldon.
In order to join, nobody needs to audition and the judges noted the enjoyment the members get out of their rehearsals as they prepare for their concerts.
The membership of the orchestra ranges from 21-years-old all the way to 79.
A spokesman for the Pride of Essex Awards, said: “They play approximately six concerts a year with all proceeds going to local charities.
“With talented people at the helm, who give their time and skills freely, the membership has virtually doubled in the last few years.”
