A golf club's charitable members has raised almost £6,000 towards a replacement minibus for a day care centre.

Trustees of Knightswood Day Care Centre were presented a cheque for £5,803.91 by members of Burnham Golf Club in Ferry Road after the club spend an entire year raising cash for the centre.

A spokesman for the day centre said the team were "staggered" when they received the donation.

The minibus will be a vital addition to the centre caring for its visitors.

The spokesman said: "The centre uses the buses to transport clients to and from Knightswood six-days a week and this money will help to replace the minibus which is nearing the end of its career.

"The trustees thanked all at the club for their generous support for our day care service."

Knightswood is continuing to raise funds with its Christmas Fayre on Sunday December 16.

There will be a host of stalls and goods available throughout the day with entertainment from the Maldon Ukulele Band and Santa's Grotto.

Refreshments and children's activities will also be available throughout the afternoon.

The event will take place from 11am to 3pm.
