PLANS are in place for overnight lane closures as part of ongoing strengthening work to a bridge carrying a main road.
Essex Highways says temporary traffic lights will be in place from 10pm tonight (Thursday, October 18) until 5am tomorrow morning at Catholic Bridge in Colchester Road, Witham.
And road bosses have warned a full road closure may be necessary for a short period overnight but it's unclear when.
A lane closure may also be needed from 10pm on Friday until 5am on Saturday.
The closure is needed to allow workers to do ground penetration scanning works on the bridge.
A spokesman for Essex Highways said: “There is also a possibility that some limited short-term temporary road closures may be necessary during this time to enable the engineers to scan the centre of the carriageway.
“We would like to thank road users for their continued patience while we continue strengthening works to Catholic Bridge.”
