A MAN is set to appear in court today after a woman reported she had been raped in Colchester.
Essex Police were called to reports a woman, aged in her 20s, had been assaulted inside a property in Annan Road.
The alleged attack happened at around 6am on Wednesday, October 3.
Sultan Mohammed, 24, of Almond Way, Colchester, was arrested on Friday, October 5.
He has been charged with rape and trespass with intent to commit a sexual offence.
He will appear at Colchester Magistrates' Court this morning.
A police spokesman said: "The victim has been safeguarded and is being supported by specialist officers."
The victim is believed to be a University of Essex student.
Properties in Annan Road are part of The Meadows, University accommodation located a ten minute walk away from the central campus.
The University of Essex declined to comment as criminal proceedings are active.
