An inquest has opened into the death of a beloved school pupil from Southminster.
Konna Wright, 15, who attended Ormiston Rivers Academy in Burnham, died on September 18.
Many tributes were paid to Konna from the academy and friends and family on social media in the days after his death.
At Essex Coroner’s Court in Chelmsford on Monday, senior coroner Caroline Beasley-Murray opened the inquest into Konna’s death.
Coroner’s officer Jonathan Horr told the court that Konna had been found unresponsive in the King George V Playing Field.
Ambulance crews attended the scene and attempted to revive him, but Konna was sadly declared dead at the scene. Police confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances.
A post mortem examination was carried out which identified a provisional cause of death of compression of the neck in relation to hanging.
The inquest was adjourned for mention on November 5, with a provisional full hearing date of February 21 2019 at 3pm.
Mrs Beasley-Murray passed on sympathies to Konna’s family.
