Hundreds of people lined the streets as Burnham’s annual illuminated spectacular returned to the town.

Floats, belly dancers, and carnival queens plus dozens of people in fancy dress flocked to the streets of the town on Saturday night for the 110th annual carnival.

There was also live music, stalls and the annual 999 competition which sees emergency service teams take on a water-themed challenge.

Floats included Ghostbusters, The Greatest Showman and winning float Flowowers which included a pirate ship and ghoulish pirates.

Carnival chairman Caroline Sarychkin said: “We had a beautiful sunny day. We had lots and lots of stalls and entertainment.

“It was a very good natured day.

“One of my friends who had never been before came to see it and it was amazing to see it through fresh eyes.”

The entertainment throughout the day included Blue Falcons, Epic Dance Academy and singer Loula.

Caroline added: “All in all it went really well. This is a community event and the more the community gets involved the better it is.

“It is a privilege to be part of the carnival. I moved here nine years ago and my neighbour urged me to join the committee – it is the best thing I have ever done.”

People are invited to attend the carnival’s AGM in February.
