A POP-UP dining experience serving lobster will be coming to Maldon for a whole month.

Dirty Lobster will be aboard the Sailing Barge Hydrogen at Cooks Yard in the Hythe in October.

The dates for the evenings are October 12, 13, 19 and 20 from 6.30pm to 9pm.

The venture is a mix of street food affordability and an immersive dining experience, according to its owners Rosie Roman and chef Tomo Travelskie.

Tomo works as a part-time chef at The Savoy hotel in London and has been in the business for more than 25 years.

The couple took a four-month trip around the US and Canada last year and discovered how accessible and delicious foods like lobster and other crustaceans were.

Tomo said: “Over here there’s not really a place where you can find lobster apart from the fine dining restaurants.

“Our goal is to make lobster affordable.

“It is such a crazy industry. You can pay £65 for a lobster meal.

“We wanted to bring it back but also make it more accessible like street food.

“We started doing the pop-up events in Chelmsford.

“The pop ups were a great way to trial whether or not people would like lobsters and burgers.

“We like doing themed nights as well. It gives an immersive experience.

“In November, we’re planning to do Mary Lobbins, a play on Mary Poppins.”

The pair are also looking to have a permanent restaurant location in the town.

“We have fallen in love with Maldon, we absolutely love it,” he said.

There is a £10 charge per head which will be deducted from the final bill in order to help with buying costs.

The pop-up venture also puts on events in Colchester and Chelmsford.
