AN evening of live poetry is coming to Burnham as part of National Poetry Day.

The Essex Poetry Festival will be visiting Burnham Library in Station Road on October 7.

Poet Adrian Green will perform his work and talk about his inspirations in this stimulating event.

Mr Green spent his childhood in Great Baddow.

A former small press editor, he has had a long association with the Southend Poetry Group and the Open University Poets.

His poems and reviews have appeared in several magazines and anthologies in England and Romania as well as two pamphlet collections and a full-length collection from The Littoral Press called Chorus and Coda,

A spokesman said: “Audiences at last year’s festival really enjoyed the opportunity to listen to poets reading aloud from their work, and to hear about their inspirations and how they write.

“The experience of having poetry read to us in an unpretentious and personal style, hearing about the genesis of the poet’s verse was a real eye opener.”

The event takes place from 7pm to 8.30pm.

Entry is free and tickets are available to book through the library events website or in person at the library.

Other events are being held in Chelmsford, Halstead, and Colchester libraries.
