RAIN didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits as crowds gathered to watch Maldon’s Regatta set sail.
As well as the various boat races during the day on Saturday, there was also a traditional duck r ace and entertainment on the shore.
Regatta chairman Gerry Courtney said the day had been a triumph despite the weather.
He said: “It went very well but it was a bit rainy.
“In my 12 years on the committee, this is the first year we’ve had where there has been rain.
“There were 33 boats altogether which wasn’t bad.
“The races finished a bit earlier than expected but there were a fair few people around to see them.
“Everybody made the best of it. Overall, it was a successful day and the people enjoyed it.”
