SCHOOLCHILDREN swapped their school uniforms for denim to raise money for Jeans for Genes day.
It is estimated one in 25 children is affected by a genetic disorder, which means 30,000 babies and children are diagnosed in the UK every year.
Children at Montgomery Infant School and Nursery in Colchester were able to make a donation in return for wearing their jeans to school.
They enjoyed having the opportunity to dress casually and support a good cause at the same time.
Sally Leung, headteacher at the school in Baronswood Way, said the children had a great time.
She said: “We take part in Jeans for Genes Day every year.
“We need to make the children aware there are other children out there who have genetic disorders.
“It’s just about raising that awareness.
“I’m not a trouser person, but on the day I was wearing my jeans and the children couldn’t get over that. “
The children have been learning about the charity day in class and had a special assembly on the day.
The majority of the children at the school wore their jeans and gave a donation which will go to the Jeans for Genes Day charity to held fund research.
