PANTOMIME horses have are thought to have raised more than £9,000 for charity.

Teams from across Colchester dressed up for the start line on Sunday, with Colchester United in the Community the winner.

The Air Cadets, on behalf of Age Concern, were the runners up while best dressed went to the Girld Guides and LEPRA came second.

Simon Prestney, CEO of Age Concern Colchester, said it looked likely the charity was going to reach its £10,000 target.

He said: "It is safe to say that we currently have over £8,750 confirmed as raised and we are waiting to hear back from some charities who raced and others who raced for Age Concern.

"We are very grateful to the support across charities for the money raised and we will be back next year for Panto Horse Derby Day III."
