A MUSIC project to celebrate remembrance of the First World War will be performed in Heybridge.
SyrinxMusic, a collection of musicians, is coming to St Andrew’s Church in The Street on Saturday.
The show they will be performing is called Echoes of Remembrance.
A spokesman said: “It is a multi-discipline performance which takes as its premise that remembrance is principally concerned with honouring and caring for our military heroes, rarely with questioning and learning.
“Remembrance will always be with us, perhaps we need to be more engaged with making better use of it.”
SyrinxMusic is a music group based in Wickham Bishops and founded by Stephen Rumsey.
In 2014 Ipswich Choral Society’s music director, Mr Rumsey was asked to produce a sequence of music and poetry commemorating the outbreak of the “war to end all wars”.
This sequence was entitled “When this Rotten War is Over” and forms the opening of Echoes of Remembrance.
War did not end of course and there follows music, film and dance reflecting on this, in particular the inhumane effects of conflict on children and family.
Admission is free but a donation is requested. Email contact@syrinxmusic.co.uk to confirm attendance.
The performance starts at 7.15pm.
