STOW Maries aerodrome is putting on their first ever Proms event.

The music concert on Saturday, September 29 in Hackmans Lane, Purleigh, will be part of their hundred-year commemoration to the RAF.

The Dunmow Wind Band will present their show Music under the Stars performed from inside a working hangar.

The band was formed in 2013 by military musician Andy King.

Mr King said: “Our music will be fitting for the occasion and venue, and will include songs that the audience can join in with some rousing singing."

Aerodrome CEO Ian Flint said: “This event has been in the planning for quite some time, so it is great to see it come to fruition.

“I have no doubt The Dunmow Wind Band will light up our hangar and deliver a night to remember as we continue to celebrate 100 years of the RAF.”

Tickets for the event are £25 for adult and £12 for children under 16.

The price includes a glass of Pimms and a traditional Essex hog roast.

Doors open at 4.30pm for a 5pm start and the evening should finish by 8pm.

Tickets are limited so advanced booking is essential.

The last chance to get tickets will be Wednesday, September 26.

Tickets can be bought online or from the Maldon tourist office.

Visitors are advised to bring their own chair.
