A TEAM GB boxer volunteered to be 'tail walker' at this week's Junior Parkrun.
Colchester's Lewis Richardson, who qualified for a potential place at the 2020 Olympics, is one of about 250 National Lottery-funded athletes attending a free Parkrun event before September 9.
The initiative invites the nation's top athletes to stay at the back of the race to ensure all runners are accounted for, at adult and junior Parkruns across the country.
Karrianne Marking, event director for Colchester's weekly run, said: "The most common reason by far for someone registering with Parkrun and not participating, is they don't feel capable of running 5k or 2k for juniors so Team Parkrun provides a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate how inclusive the runs are, and how warmly we welcome walkers.
"I would encourage anyone to come along to our event and see for themselves - the children can walk, jog, run, skip, volunteer or simply watch.
"Parkrun and Junior Parkrun are socially-focused events which are all about encouraging the community to get out and enjoy our open spaces."
Team Parkrun is backed by Sport England, the British Olympic Association and British Paralympic Association, along with a number of other national sports and governing bodies.
Colchester Junior Parkrun takes place each Sunday from 8.50am for a 9am start.
