LITTLE City is the only place where your children can act out being a doctor, mechanic, supermarket assistant or vet all in one room.

The mobile play business is the brainchild of Vicki Fletcher, who quit her HR and training career in the City, ironically, so children under-five can "role play their little hearts out".

The mum-of-two, who moved to Brantham from Colchester, said: "That's what they love doing at this age so they get to do it in a safe environment all build for them at their height.

"The supermarket and cafe are the most popular - they blooming love the trolleys and the food is all wooden.

"But also the parents get to interact and play as well which is the difference compared to something like soft play."

Vicki is now fully booked for birthday parties until December but operates the pay-as-you-go sessions at least three mornings a week across Essex.

"It's gone a bit mad. I wasn't expecting it but I'm not complaining at all," she said.

The idea was born after taking her two daughters, aged three and two, to Tots Town in Norwich, an interactive play centre based around a child sized town.

It has been a family effort too with her dad and husband, Andrew, becoming handymen to create some of Little City.

She said: "My eldest daughter didn't want to leave, she was distraught. I couldn't find another one more locally and thought, I could do it myself.

"The main driver was to spend more time with my children. I had a great career for nine years but then when I had children, I just didn't want to commute anymore.

"I was leaving work at 7am and not getting home until 7pm. Now, I aim to be home by 2pm.

"And I'm having the best summer."
