FOOTBALL legend Bobby Hunt is part of the line-up of fun at a care home's big Summer Fun Day.

Bobby, who made 149 league appearances for Colchester United, will officially open Foxburrow Grange’s fun day on September 1.

Among the fun and games on the day, there will be live music, raffles, a tombola and lots of activities for all the family to help fundraise for the Wish Come True campaign.

Wellies-On will also be bringing a number of farm animals to the home in Ypres Road for petting.

Activities coordinator, Margaret Brodie, said: “It’s always a fun-filled day and we offer a big welcome to anyone who comes along.

"The home has always seen itself as an integral part of the community and we value the support of those who live nearby, as well as the family and friends of the people in our care.

“Bobby has supported our home in the past and has been very open about his own diagnosis in terms of dementia, so we think he’s the perfect person to get our big day underway.”

Foxburrow Grange is a 69-bed home, offering specialist residential, nursing and dementia care.

Footballer Bobby, now 75, first opened up about living with Alzheimer’s disease in 2016, when research established a link between heading footballs and dementia.

At the time, he said he would "see stars" after heading the much heavy balls.

Support the all-day event from 2pm at the home, in Ypres Road, Colchester.
