A TEENAGER who is celebrating being clear from cancer for ten years has raised hundreds of pounds for a hospital which helped aid his recovery.
Josh Borley, 15, was diagnosed with Burkitts non-Hodgkins lymphoma, a tumour in his stomach, when he was just five years old.
At the time Josh, who is a pupil at Clacton Coastal Academy, received week-long chemotherapy treatment at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge and underwent five operations.
To mark his ten years clear of cancer, Josh’ nana Jean Malone let him host a fundraising party at her home in Park Road to raise money for Acorn House at Addenbrooke’s.
Acorn House provides support for families of poorly children and is run by the Sick Children’s Trust.
The tea party raised a whopping £1,359.
Jean said: “Josh would like to thank all that helped to make it a good day, so many shops, supermarkets, Clacton and Walton piers and so many other shops gave donations for the raffle.
“We’re so proud of him.
“He really had it really bad and we nearly lost him three times.
“It was really touch and go one time, but he’s been wonderful to raise so much money.”
