THREE schools have been struck by swine flu.

One pupil from Earls Colne Primary School has swine flu and has been described as “quite poorly”.

The boy was confirmed with having swine flu on Wednesday and taken to hospital. He is now at home recovering.

An adult from St Andrew’s Primary School in Mathews Close, Halstead, was taken ill with swine flu on Tuesday night.

A pupil at St John the Baptist Primary School in Pebmarsh has been out of school this week because of suspected swine flu.

She is at home taking anti-viral drugs.

Val Holmes, a member of staff at Earls Colne Primary School, said: “We have had one confirmed case. He has been in hospital and has been quite poorly. He’s at home recovering now.”

kathy Roebuck, headteacher at St Giles Primary School in Great Maplestead, said: “We have had quite a few children off this week, some with a temperature but nothing has been confirmed.”
