A vicar and two pals gave Britney Spears a run for her money by dressing up for a fundraising concert.

Rev John Blore of St Andrew’s Church, Halstead, pulled out all the stops for a performance in memory of former Halstead town councillor Terry Middleton.

Mr Blore, who was joined by John Baker from Earls Colne and Halstead resident Geoff Willis, sang Three Little Maids From School Are We during the Churches Together concert - Music for a Summer’s Evening held on Saturday.

Mr Blore said: ”We had a lot of fun, but it was mainly a more serious concert.

“I have never had pigtails before. It felt quite strange. I thought they went quite nicely with my beard."

Other performances included Tosca’s Prayer sung by Liz Woolnough.

Paul Burt sang a piece from Nessun Dorma, Fran Pannell sang I could Have Danced All Night and David Tarburn sang Moon River.

The concert, organised by Terry’s family and friends, raised at least £504 for the First Responders, who had previously come to Terry’s aid.
