Holiday makers, who recently returned from Mexico, have not been put off returning to the country.

Halstead resident Tony Shelton and his wife, returned from a two-week holiday in a five star hotel, which was 40 miles from Cancun.

They returned six weeks ago and ten days later, his wife was poorly.

Mr Shelton, who is chairman of the League of Friends of Halstead Hospital, said: “My wife has had a nasty cold but we’re pretty certain it’s nothing to do with the swine flu.

“Because of the concerns that you keep hearing, she had a word with the doctors and they said just keep it under review.

“I don’t think there’s any fear that we’re affected by swine flu.

“We came back from temperatures of about 28 degrees to about ten degrees and that’s when you get colds.”

Mrs Shelton has since recovered and the couple are looking forward to returning to the country in the future.

Mr Shelton added: “When we were there, we didn’t see any evidence of ill health.

“We’re looking forward to going back to Mexico in a couple of years time.”
