A young couple are “incredibly excited” about tackling the challenge of a lifetime and have already smashed their fundraising target.
Teri Laskowski and her boyfriend Matthew Duckworth will be trekking the Inca Trail to Macho Picchu, Peru, to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.
The couple, who met at university in Lincoln, chose the charity because a number of their family members have suffered from heart problems.
Teri, 23, from Mill Lane in Pebmarsh, said: “My granddad died at a very young age from a heart attack before I was born and my nan, Jean Harrison, who lives in Pebmarsh, has undergone heart surgery and suffers from angina.
“Matt’s uncle also died from a heart attack two years ago. Therefore, it was obvious to us that we should raise money for the British Heart Foundation.”
With only six weeks before they set off, the duo said they were “incredibly excited.”
Matt, 24, from Thirsk in North Yorkshire, and Teri have already smashed their fundraising target of £4,000.
