Passengers travelling to and from Stansted Airport are facing further disruption today after a police incident affected a key railway line.

Greater Anglia said services running between Tottenham Hale and Cheshunt were disrupted following reports of anti-social behaviour on Friday (October 16).

Police have now finished dealing with the incident and all lines have reopened, but knock-on delays are expected to continue until around 7.15pm.

The disruption affects a number of routes, including trains between London Liverpool Street and Stansted Airport, as well as services linking the capital with Cambridge North and Hertford East.

Greater Anglia warned that services on the affected routes would remain disrupted while it worked to restore the advertised timetable.

The latest problems come during an already difficult period for passengers using the Stansted route.

JourneyCheck information for the London Liverpool Street to Stansted Airport route has also reported disruption connected with an operational incident between Liverpool Street and Hackney Downs.

It said some lines were blocked, with services subject to cancellation or diversion and disruption expected until the end of the day.

The notice said a reduced Stansted Express service was operating between 3.15pm and 8pm because fewer platforms were available at Liverpool Street.

Passengers face further significant disruption this weekend.

Stansted Express says there will be no direct train service to or from Stansted Airport on Saturday, October 17 and Sunday, October 18 because of planned maintenance work between Waltham Cross and Stansted Airport.

Travellers will instead need to use alternative routes, including travelling via London King's Cross and Cambridge South.

Stansted Express warns that journey times will be "significantly extended".

Greater Anglia says passengers whose booked Advance service is cancelled can use an earlier or later train.

Those delayed by 15 minutes or more may also be entitled to compensation.

Passengers can check the latest alterations through Greater Anglia JourneyCheck.

JourneyCheck says its disruption information comes directly from Greater Anglia's operational control room and is combined with live departure and arrival information.
