Slimming World consultants in Essex have raised thousands of pounds for Cancer Research UK through a nationwide clothes donation campaign.
Abigail Rawlinson, who runs sessions at St Andrew’s Church Hall in Halstead, joined forces with Janda Sullivan from Shrub End in Colchester and Claire Jenkins from New Town to take part in the charity’s annual Big Clothes Throw.
Each year, Slimming World consultants across England, Ireland and Scotland encourage members to donate clothes they have slimmed out of.
Together, the Essex groups collected an impressive 350 bags of clothing.

With each bag valued at £25 for the charity, the total raised reached £8,750.
Abigail Rawlinson said the campaign is a highlight for members each year.
She said: “It’s lovely seeing all our members get excited about the clothes throw and raising money for this amazing charity, which Slimming World has the pleasure of being in partnership with.
“We are so proud of our members – firstly for losing the weight and then being able to donate their clothes that are now too big for them.”
The initiative supports lifesaving research, while celebrating the progress of Slimming World members - many of whom use the campaign as a milestone in their weight-loss journey.

Funds raised will go towards Cancer Research UK’s work to improve cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment, helping to save lives across the UK.
