A grassroots football club has raised more than £3,000 after completing a sponsored walk through Halstead town.
Halstead Town Youth Football Club is a community focused club, established to provide young people with the opportunity to play football in a safe, supportive and inclusive environment.
The club caters for a wide range of age groups and abilities, focusing on developing skills on the pitch, as well as teamwork, building confidence and having fun.
On Saturday, around 100 club members completed a sponsored walk, seeing participants set off from Halstead Town Football club in Rosemary Lane at 1pm.
Club members then walked around the town's shops, before finishing back at Halstead Town Football club to watch the under 23's game.
The event raised an incredible £3,076 for the youth club, while bringing players, families and supporters together.
The funds aim to support the development of a new pitch in Pebmarsh, with the club still gratefully receiving donations.
Youth vice chairperson and youth welfare officer Leanne Hoadley said: "The club wanted to organise a fundraising event that would bring everyone together outside of football, while also raising vital funds to support the continued development of the teams.
"A sponsored walk felt like a great way to include all ages and abilities, while strengthening the sense of community within the club.
"We are absolutely delighted and incredibly proud to have raised £3,076; it’s a fantastic achievement and really shows the dedication and generosity of everyone involved.
"The support from the local community has been amazing.
"We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part, donated or helped organise the event; the success of the walk highlights what can be achieved when the community comes together and we’re very grateful for all the support."
