A CHURCH in Halstead is calling for the community's help in feeding those in need this winter.
St Andrew's Church at the top of the High Street is the parish church for all town residents, working closely with St Andrew's Primary School in Matthews Close.
The site is open most days from 10am, and hosts events throughout the year including Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve, as well as celebratory occasions like weddings and christenings.
Church volunteers are calling for the community's help with feeding those in need this winter, hoping to receive donations for the St Andrew's food bank.
Tinned, packeted and dried food, as well as toiletries, washing powder and other home essentials are much needed to hep support those who cannot afford to purchase the items.
In a social media post, a spokesperson for the church's food bank said: "We’re not trying to feed the world, we’d just like to look after our own this Christmas.
"Be Santa, not the Grinch."
There is a box in the church for residents to place items in, as well as the office taking donations.
Items can also be left in the Rectory porch.
