VULNERABLE residents of Halstead will have the chance to grab a new pair of slippers for free next week as part of a district-wide scheme.

The Winter 2025 Braintree district slipper swap is an annual event, aiming to reduce falls and promote comfort and safety as the colder months set in.

Organised by HealthWatch Essex, the scheme will visit each town and village in the district throughout November and December.

Vulnerable community members are invited to visit their closest venues to receive a free pair of brand-new slippers, particularly those most at risk of slips, trips and falls.

Visitors are invited to bring an old pair of slippers to swap, but this is not essential.

The scheme will come to Queens Hall in Chipping Hill next Friday, November 7, from 12.30pm to 1.30pm.
