A COMEDY show aimed at breaking the taboos around men's health is set to return in mid Essex.
Healthwatch Essex, in collaboration with Lost Sock Productions and Braintree Council, is bringing back "A Healthy Dose of Humour" to the Halstead Empire Theatre.
The event, which combines comedy with discussions on men's health, aims to create a non-traditional environment for men to talk about their health and wellbeing.
The charity has previously organised "Fella's Fairs" at sporting events and has recently turned to comedy as a way to make men's health a more approachable topic.
The show will feature a line-up of comedians, including Rich Wilson, Roger Monkhouse, and Bob Mills.
Rich Wilson, known for his podcasts "Insane in the Menbrain" and "Insane in The Fembrain", will be returning as the host.
Before the comedy begins, guest speakers will share their experiences with addiction, mental, and physical health.
Attendees will also receive a goody bag with resources from men's health support agencies across Essex.
Scott Tatum, engagement manager at Healthwatch Essex, said: "At Healthwatch Essex, we are extremely excited to be back at the amazing Halstead Empire on March 13, working in collaboration with Braintree Council and Lost Sock Productions to raise awareness of the support available regarding men’s health and wellbeing."
Martyn Davies, founder of Lost Sock Productions, added: "These events inspire and encourage men to reach out and talk to the big network of support available here in Essex."
The event is free, but tickets are required for entry.
The show is for those aged 18 and over only, as it may contain adult content.
Lynette Bowers-Flint, councillor responsible for housing, health, and wellbeing at Braintree Council, said: "We're proud to partner with Healthwatch Essex and Lost Sock Productions to bring 'A Healthy Dose of Humour' to the Empire Theatre in Halstead."
"A Healthy Dose of Humour" will take place at Halstead Empire Theatre on Thursday, March 13, 2025.
Doors open at 7pm, with guest speakers from 7.30pm and comedians from 8pm to 10pm.
