FESTIVE fun was enjoyed as a Christmas card writing event to support those less fortunate made its return.
Vicky Faulks and Julie Cass, from Earls Colne, hosted the event last week, which saw village residents writing and donating festive cards.
The event comes in support of Essex group The Sleigh Belles Christmas Card Donation.
The group supports care homes, homeless charities and hospitals every winter, aiming to bring smiles to people over the Christmas period with a greeting card.
The cards are donated, written and distributed to those unwell in emergency care, without a home, or those spending Christmas alone.
Last week's event, held at Earls Colne Recreation Club, saw 11 people write 282 cards.
Event co-organiser Vicky said: "We had so much fun last week writing Christmas cards for The Sleigh Belles Christmas Card Donation.
"This project receives requests for cards from hospitals, shelters, food banks, hospices etc to bring cheer to those who really need a little love and compassion.
"Last week we smashed our target but we want to write lots more."
The event was such a success that both Vicky and Julie have decided to hold a second Christmas card writing session at the Rec next week.
Vicky added: "It's a wonderful way to get to know lovely people from our community."
"You could write just a few or lots - we'll be very grateful for all contributions."
The second event took place on Wednesday, November 27 at Earls Colne Recreation Club, from 11am - 2pm.
For those who could not attend, Vicky and Julie encourage them to get in touch for alternative ways to donate and write cards.
