TOUGH-TACKLING rugby union squads from around the region took part in a junior festival staged by Liverpool St Helens.
The event, played under the floodlights on Friday, April 12, was staged by LSH's under 10s at the Moss Lane ground as the club continued its aim of developing players for the future.
The LHS U10s - featuring players from across the town - had two teams on display in an eight-way round robin tournament.
And organisers were delighted to be joined and supported by clubs from across the borough and surrounding region.
These included Newton-le-Willows RUFC, Tarleton RUFC, Leigh RUFC, Ormskirk RUFC and Liverpool Collegiate RUFC.
LSH Under 10s coach Craig Forster said: "This was the first junior festival of its kind that has been staged by the club and a great time was had by all.
"Overall, we had about 100 players taking part, underlining the strength of the sport around the region.
"At LSH we're proud of our history - dating back to the formation of the Liverpool club in 1857 - but we're also looking to the future and bringing through the next generation of players - girls and boys - who will enjoy learning the sport at Moss Lane."
