PLANS to provide insulation, a new kitchen and bathroom and plumbing and electrical works in a listed building have been submitted.

The proposals concern a house on Swan Street in Sible Hedingham.

According to the application, the property is within a terrace of four alms houses, which belong to a charity.

The building is Grade II listed and in the Sible Hedingham conservation area.

The trustees of the Webster Almhouses Trust are seeking to modernise the properties, which according to the application have not seen any improvement since the early 1980s.

Overall, the intention is to provide a new kitchen and appliances, new bathroom with walk in shower cubical and new high-efficiency electric panel radiators.

Rewiring and re-plumbing would also be carried out as necessary, and new insulation to the ground-floor, first floor ceilings and walls would be installed.

Each alms house will be renovated individually, enabling the residents to be moved between homes while work is being carried out.

Braintree Council will have the final say on the plans.
