BOSSES at the Halstead Community Shed have categorically denied any suggestion they want to turn the site into a entertainment venue.

The organisation's trustees sent an application to Braintree Council in February to propose certain changes of use for the building so it could be used for various activities.

These included the provision of voluntary health care for the local community, the provision of health and well-being activities, and much more.

Since then Halstead Council representatives have voiced concerns "over the commercial use of the site for parties and weddings and lack of parking".

However, Halstead Community Shed trustee and project leader Kevin Pryke has now refuted claims the building, in Fenn Road, could be used for such things.

He believes there has been a mix up, as the training room at the site was previously permitted to be hired out for parties and weddings receptions when it was a St John Ambulance Station.

A decision is yet to be made on the change of use planning application.
