A LIFE-LONG Halstead resident has celebrated her 102nd birthday as a social club marks its silver anniversary.
Dorothy Rayner has been a member of Halstead Age Concern Social Club since its launch 25 years ago.
She has been dubbed the group's "matriarch", and celebrated her birthday at Thursday's meeting, surrounded by friends.
The group's Debbie Chenneour said: "Dorothy is such a well respected lady - she's amazing.
"She has lived here all her life. She has two daughters - Sylvia and Gill - and lots of grandchildren.
"She has been a member of the group ever since it opened in New Street 25 years ago."
Dorothy was bombarded with cards and gifts on her big day, including chocolates and flowers.
Debbie said: "We played bingo but unfortunately she didn't win.
"But she did leave with a bottle of Bailey's and a massive bunch of flowers.
"We also organised a birthday cake from Hume's and she took a chunk of it home.
"She was really grateful to everyone who contributed to her birthday.
"She's a wonderful lady."
