A CAT café brand has confirmed it is opening a new shop in Colchester’s city centre after bosses were given the go-ahead from a landlord.
Meow Cat Café, which has been a success in Halstead for nearly a year, announced plans to expand its business back in October.
Opened by mum and cat lover Rebecca White, the café has proven a hit with animal-lovers, quickly becoming a popular go-to spot for residents and visitors.
Following the success of the café, Rebecca revealed plans towards the end of last year to open a second site in Colchester - however, it was unknown where exactly in the city that would be.
Rebecca has now confirmed the new café will be located in Eld Lane - news which she shared on her social media platforms.
“After weeks and weeks of uncertainty and a lot of stress, we are very excited to say the landlords have said yes,” a statement said.
“We will be coming to Eld Lane, Colchester.”
Eld Lane is well known in the city for being home to a variety of independent businesses.
A vacant lot which could possibly become the cat cafe's new home is one formerly owned by Café Sala, which is understood to have shut.
The exact location of the new café, however, has not yet been confirmed.
Meow Cat Café is a quaint eating establishment where its customers can enjoy a meal surrounded by furry friends.
The café regularly sees new cats appear at the site, with Rebecca working with Friends of Felines to find new homes for the animals.
The charity also ensures all of the cats which come to the café are suitable, vet-checked and vaccinated.
So far more than 100 have been rehomed, with the café announcing recently it has had to slow down the adoption rate as the turnover was so high.
“Moving them too quick from one environment to the next can also be very stressful to the cats, which is something we would like to avoid,” a statement added.
The Halstead site works on a booking process, where customers can book one-hour sessions to spend with the cats in the café.
