A BUSY road in Halstead town centre is set to close overnight for roadworks, highways bosses have confirmed.
Essex County Council says Head Street will be closed for four nights from January 22 while footway patching works take place.
The closure, which will be in place between 7.30pm and 5am, stretches between Market Hill and Colne Road, a distance of about 375 metres, and is needed to ensure the safety of the public while the work is undertaken.
The advance closure notice published by Essex County Council advises motorists that an alternative diversion route is available while the roadworks take place.
It says traffic will be diverted via Market Hill, Hedingham Road, Halstead Road, Queen Street, Potter Street, Swan Street, Yeldham Road, Crouch Green, Nunnery Street, Pye Corner, Bayley Street, Sudbury Hill, Sudbury Road, Great Maplestead Road, Moat Street, Little Maplestead Road, Gestingthorpe Road, Oak Road, Deans Hall Road, and vice versa.
The highways authority says the dates of the closure are subject to change and that any changes will be displayed on "appropriate signs" or via the roadworks map on the one.network website.
