COMMUNITY police officers dropped into a care home’s dementia café to visit residents on site.

On Tuesday, December 5, PCSOs Terrie Johnson and Lorraine Keating visited the Forget Me Not Café at Colne View Care Home in Halstead.

The café was formed to provide support to families and those living with dementia, enabling them to visit a warm and friendly venue.

The facility is a valuable resource, as Halstead continues to work to be a dementia-friendly community.

With the dementia-friendly cinema and dementia-friendly choir already proving to be a success, it provides another venue to attend.

A spokesman said: “The café is free at the point of delivery, providing tea, coffee and cold drinks as well delicious cakes and the most warm and friendly environment to sit and meet with others.

“It also provides a chance for those carers and family members to sit and talk to like-minded people, safe in the knowledge that their loved ones are safe.

“If you know of anybody who is supporting somebody living with dementia give them a nod to come along.”

The café meets on the first Tuesday of the month.

On Thursday, December 21, residents are holding a doorstep carol service from 3pm to 5pm.

All are welcome to attend with mince pies, mulled wine and other refreshments on offer.

If you are interested in attending the doorstep carols or any of the Forget me Not café meet-ups, email event organiser Kim at kim.richardson@careuk.com or or call 07760 776236.”
