A CARE home welcomed the community for a very special event full of music, dancing and singing.

The team at Care UK’s Colne View, in Dame Mary Walk, was joined by the people of Halstead for their very own summer festival.

With live entertainment from The Red Hot Ukes and local accordionist, Alex Southgate, guests put on their dancing shoes and showed off their best moves.

Visitors also joined in with the dementia-friendly choir in singing their own rendition of Tony Christie’s ‘thank you for being a friend’, a song released in collaboration with Music for Dementia.

Getting into the festival spirit, the home was decorated with bunting and the team also put on their own show – a special Morris dancing performance led by Kim Richardson, the home’s Customer Relations Manager.

One of the residents at Colne View, 85-year-old Jack Sargant was overjoyed with the event.

He said: “It was a wonderful day, everyone was cheering and clapping, and the atmosphere was fantastic.

“I especially enjoyed singing along with the dementia-friendly choir.”

Home manager Monica Boldeata added: “We were delighted to welcome the local community to our summer festival where we enjoyed plenty of dancing, good food and sunshine.

“Our festival offered a wonderful opportunity for intergenerational interaction, as families, friends, and neighbours came together to enjoy the festivities.

“Guests showcased their dance moves alongside residents, fostering a sense of camaraderie and unity across all age groups. The event was a wonderful opportunity for the community to witness the vibrant and active lifestyle enjoyed by residents at Colne View.

“I’d like to extend a huge thank you to the team here at Colne View for organising such a wonderful event, and to everyone who came along and helped make the day such a success.

“We’re already looking forward to our next party.”
