CLASSIC cars took over a historic venue as it welcomed back a popular annual event.
Hedingham Castle brought back its Classic and Vintage Cars Day last weekend, which was a huge success once again.
A total of 330 vintage vehicles were welcomed to the castle, with hundreds of visitors flocking to the venue on Saturday.
Marketing manager Steffi Dry said: “We had a fantastic day.
“Despite high winds and an early morning power cut, we welcomed 330 vintage and classic cars with their owners and more than 1,000 through the gates.
“Guests were able to explore the castle and grounds as well as converse with car owners about their vehicles.
"We were also joined by some lovely local vendors, including Fruity's Fleeces, Bespoke Metal Crafts, The Cheese and Pie Man, Sugar and Rose Bakes and NFU Mutual.
“Everyone we spoke to was impressed with the quality and variety of cars on display and it was one of our biggest shows yet.
“A huge thanks to all the suppliers who joined us on the day as well as the Hedingham team who worked tirelessly all day despite a busy wedding the day before and a power cut in the morning to test their characters.”
It is yet another successful event on the castle’s calendar, which bosses say are crucial for the venue.
Steffi added: “Events like these are crucial for keeping Hedingham Castle alive and interesting, and as a place for the community to come today.
“They bring in visitors from all over the county and further afield, many of whom haven't been here before, and they get to learn more about the rich history of the castle but also what else we have coming up that might be of interest and the fact we hold weddings here too.”
The castle has plenty of events coming up through the summer holidays, including a theatre production, outdoor cinema, escape room, Knight School and the season finale - the Knights of Albion Joust over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
